The Mt. Hollis Lodge group chat is now on Signal, an app for your smartphone. These instructions will show how to install the app on your smartphone, create an account, and join the group chat. All of these steps need to be completed on your smartphone.

Signal will install just like any other app on your smartphone.
Screenshots shown are from the Apple iOS version, but it should still work the same on Android. When you open the Signal app the first time, the following screen will be shown:
There is nothing to do on this screen. Click the “Continue” button.
The next screen will have a keypad for entering your phone number:
Enter your smartphone number with the area code and press the “Continue” button.
Signal will ask you to confirm whether your phone number is correct.
If your phone number is correct, press “Yes”. If not, press “Edit” and the app will take you back to the keypad for you to enter the correct phone number.
Once you press “Yes” Signal will send you a verification code via text message and take you to the next screen.
Enter the verification code in the next screen:
Once completed, Signal will verify the code is correct and take you to the next screen.
In the next screen, enter your name in the first and last name fields:
When completed, the “Save” button will turn dark blue. Press “Save” when done.
In the next screen, select a PIN number. This will act as a kind of password. When done, press “Save”.
Signal will ask you to confirm your new PIN in the next screen. Re-enter your PIN and press “Save.”
After you have confirmed your PIN, Signal will bring you to its Home Screen.
On your smartphone, navigate to the email or text message with the following URL for the Mt. Hollis Group Chat and press it:

Your smartphone will bring you back into Signal and show the following dialog:
Click the “Join” button.
Once you press the “Join” button, you will taken into the Mt. Hollis Group Chat. Ignore the green balloon in the top right; it will go away eventually.
Approvals are automatic, and there are no further steps. You are now free to message your Mt. Hollis brethren.
